  • May 23, 2012 - Uwe Kortshagen was awarded a Department of Defense, Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) program grant with researchers from Rice University, the University of Michigan, and Ohio State University, research will address the topic of "novel nanostructures for the controlled propagation of electromagnetic energy." The ultimate goal is to develop coatings, paints, or even aerosols that absorb or transmit light in a predesigned manner. The $6.25M grant, of which the University will receive $1.73M, will fund this research over a period of five years.
  • November 8, 2011 - Rebecca Anthony and Dave Rowe published a paper entitled, "Routes to Achieving High Quantum Yield Luminescence from Gas-Phase-Produced Silicon Nanocrystals" in Advanced Functional Materials. The paper was featured as a Frontispiece.
  • September, 2009 - Uwe Kortshagen was named an ASME fellow for 2009.
  • August 1, 2009 - The Center for Advanced Solar Photophysics, a DOE-funded Energy Frontier Research Center, opened at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Kortshagen group is one of seven member groups.
  • July 23, 2009 - Chin-Yi Liu and Uwe Kortshagen won a Best Paper Award at the ASME Summer Heat Transfer Conference for their paper on nanocrystal-polymer hybrid solar cells.
  • June 29, 2009 - Zak Holman was awarded the 2009 University of Minnesota Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship.
  • May 19, 2009 - Ariel Chatman received the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship to support her research on nanocrystal-based thermoelectrics.
